Laney Wilson and Emma Gaudet have been selected as the 2022-2023 French Settlement High School Students of the year.
Wilson, an 8th grader, and Gaudet, a senior, were selected based on guidelines set by the Louisiana Department of Education. The guidelines include student achievements, extracurricular commitments and community service involvement.
"Laney is a bright young lady with a contagious laugh," said Mrs. Danielle Latimer, "She is well liked by her peers and is a natural leader. I have enjoyed getting to know Laney both inside and out of the classroom."
Wilson is on the Lady Lions junior high and high school basketball team. She is also a member of Jr. Beta Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Gaudet is a member of Sr. Beta Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also president of the FSHS 4-H club and serves on the Louisiana 4-H Executive Board and on the Louisiana 4-H Foundation Committee.
"Emma goes above and beyond to lend a helping hand in all that she does," said Mrs. Jennifer Vulgamore, Sr. Beta Advisor. "She truly represents what it means to be a servant-leader."
Gaudet plans to attend the University of Louisiana Monroe next fall to pursue a degree in pharmacy.
Congratulations to both of these stellar Lions who do a great job at representing French Settlement!
