Cobb, Morales finish in top 10 at state tournament

French Settlement High School sophomores Samuel Cobb and Destin Morales finished 7th out of 125 teams at the Louisiana High School Bass Fishing state championship tournament.


Cobb and Morales had an official weigh in of 14.05 lbs. at the championship, which was held on the Ouachita River at Forsythe Park in Monroe, to break into the top 10.


"(It's) been a good year for these guys," one of the tournament organizers said during the official weigh-in.


The Livingston Parish Bassmasters are eligible to compete in the Bassmaster High School Series competition. The 2022 Abu Garcia Bassmaster High School National Championship presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors will head to Lake Hartwell in Anderson, S.C., August 11-13.
